Stop whistling feedback in AirPods Pro when using Noise Cancellation

I looked for a solution to fix the whistling in the AirPods Pro over six months but to no avail. I used them with Noise Cancellation and Transparency (Noise Control) turned off because I didn’t hear the whining feedback in my left AirPods Pro earbud when I put them in. Meanwhile, I purchased a cheaperContinue reading “Stop whistling feedback in AirPods Pro when using Noise Cancellation”

Lightroom Classic

I’ve been having a disconnect between the storage of my photographs and the editing process for several months. I’ve used Affinity Photo for the longest time and creating individual files for each edit. Somehow I happened on Lightroom Classic (LrC) after trying numerous other tools and this time around something was different with the interfaceContinue reading “Lightroom Classic”

My favorite moments from 2022

Here’s a selection of mostly unedited photos from different events over the course of this year. This year I developed an interest in the Fujifilm X100S camera and in living history photography. I took several trips to see reenactments, friends, and family. I’ve posted more of these on Instagram. Find that link on the FollowContinue reading “My favorite moments from 2022”

Amateur Radio Field Day 2022

I arrived at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening at the NC4UC club’s amateur radio Field Day location in Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, and took pictures until I realized the LEDs were creating four horizontal red bands on my files. I had to delete them and found that at 1/200, 1/60, and below the bands disappeared.Continue reading “Amateur Radio Field Day 2022”

Close up

My perspective on photography has started to shift. When I first started in photography with a Sony a6000 in 2015, I was drawn to that camera by sunsets and eventually made many time-lapses. Abandoned buildings and rusted cars drew my attention for the next several years and new friends as a result. A year agoContinue reading “Close up”

Sync iCloud Contacts with Mozilla Thunderbird

It was hard to find a solution for this until I reworded my search phrase and found it in two forums out of many deep dives. References at the end of this post. Changes made on Mozilla Thunderbird or in iCloud Contacts will synchronize across all locations. Some of the same details can be usedContinue reading “Sync iCloud Contacts with Mozilla Thunderbird”

Focus on your day: eliminating spam calls on iOS

Before iOS 15, I had to keep my phone switched to silent, Do Not Disturb enabled, and a few apps to block robocalls. When iOS 15 introduced Silence Unknown Callers in Settings for phone and messages, it stopped some of the notifications. Then I discovered how Focus could be used to eliminate unwanted calls andContinue reading “Focus on your day: eliminating spam calls on iOS”

SOOC: 2022 The Battle of Charlotte

On Saturday, September 3, 2022, I visited Rural Hill in Huntersville, North Carolina, to see the reenactment of this year’s Battle of Charlotte. Tickets were purchased online in advance. The day was mostly cloudy with lots of heat (88–91ºF) from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. I dropped the exposure on my camera because of theContinue reading “SOOC: 2022 The Battle of Charlotte”

Single frame: Jeff Dworek at 2022 Battle of Huck’s Defeat

Jeff Dworek sat on a scissor stool handmade by a mutual friend, hands clasping a tin cup filled with cold water. It was 104ºF that day, and Jeff was trying to stay cool in his thick Revolutionary War clothing at Historic Brattonsville in McConnells, South Carolina. He had a soaked towel wrapped around his neckContinue reading “Single frame: Jeff Dworek at 2022 Battle of Huck’s Defeat”

Single frame: Rusty Robinson at 2022 Battle of Huck’s Defeat

Rusty Robinson was standing behind a wooden workbench in a cabin at Brattonsville when I walked in. Two small doors and a gap behind the bench dimly lit the cabin. A young man was engaging Rusty in a conversation while I stood off to the side in the shadows to take pictures. Here he pullsContinue reading “Single frame: Rusty Robinson at 2022 Battle of Huck’s Defeat”

Setting up antennas for Field Day

I took my friend Paul Closius to Siler Presbyterian Church in Wesley Chapel where the Union County Amateur Radio Society club was setting up two 4:1 dipoles and a vertical antenna. One of the dipoles was 130 feet end to end. All for high frequency operations, I presume. We sat and watched as four menContinue reading “Setting up antennas for Field Day”
