Landing on the Sony a6000
Learning about this professional camera so I can take better sunset and landscape photos. I watched a lot of video reviews on YouTube to see comparisons against other brands/models and just reviews of the a6000 alone.
I’ve provided a playlist of the ones I bookmarked (Note of caution: not all videos err on using professional speech but they are full of tips).
Other cameras that I looked at over the course of a full year before I decided on the Sony Alpha a6000(Amazon affiliate, recommend BHPhotoVideo.com), they were: Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH3(shoots videos with longer than 30mns record time with mic input jack), Sony DSC-RX10, Sony a7 II/R/S, Fuji X30, Nikon D7000, Nikon D7100, Panasonic DMC-FZ1000, Panasonic LUMIX GX7, Nikon D800, Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH4, Sony Alpha NEX-5, Sony Alpha NEX-6, Sony Alpha NEX-7, Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100M3 and Olympus OM-D E-M1.
Gary Fong sells an extensive video covering all ins/outs of the Sony Alpha a6000, which I’ve watched.
If you can afford more than this Sony a6000 and you really want a mic input, then I recommend the Panasonic Lumix GH3 or GH4. Some say the body gets warm from video recording, but that’s to be expected. It will also record more than 30mns of video.
My best hands-down deal was at BHphotovideo with a three-year drop and spills warranty, instead of going with Amazon (Warrantech’s warranty service had so many negative reviews and one photographer red flagged it), and I went to a brick-and-mortar store to put my hands on this camera, which went well but the experience with the salesman there left me leery of purchasing there.
