An Early Morning Fog covers the sleepy town of South Royalton, Vermont. It was a very cold morning as I hiked up to the peak overlooking the town and waited several hours in the cold watching the fog come and go over the town, wondering if I’d ever get this moment, silently whispering prayers to wish it away. The cold had gotten to me and was creeping into my bones bidding me farewell pushing me down the hill when my arm swung to the right by its own accord to capture the fog lifting off. Fall Sunset at Foundry Bridge in North Tunbridge Vermont
A stunning fall sunset at Foundry Bridge in North Tunbridge, Vermont. The last visit was about five years and it was summer then. I found on Wikipedia that this is a historical landmark in Vermont and built in 1889 for $876 by the Vermont Construction Company of Saint Albans. The bridge is a single-span Warren pony truss, set on abutments of dry laid stone.

Rolling Clouds Sunrise
I rose early at 3 a.m. and arrived at 6 a.m. with a short hike up to Rough Ridge Lookout on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I waited with my camera fixed to a tripod on a jutting rock in hopes of seeing a spectacular sunrise while the chilly mountain wind gently pushed against me. It was my first time seeing that many rolling clouds from my vantage point on a mountain trail.

Tuesday Night Sunset
Tuesday had been long and busy. I left Waxhaw early morning at dawn and drove to Fort Mill, then to north Charlotte. Then stopped in South Carolina to take an hour nap before grocery shopping. Stopped for a haircut in Waxhaw and finished up more shopping before picking up supper and driving back through the heart of town. I started to see this sunset develop before I got to the drive-thru window and took a few pictures there and then stopped by the wide, open plain to shoot this moment of awe.

Sunset from Crowders Mountain
I hiked to the top with my camera and decided to stay with others to watch the sun set. I made a quick descent after I was satisfied with my time.

She sat down right in front of me while I was taking a photo of the sunset but was gracious to continue sitting there for another two.

Indiana Farm Sunset
Poneto, Indiana—I prayed for a beautiful sunset for this day as I wanted it to end well.

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

Thresher
Catawba NC
A threshing machine or a thresher is a piece of farm equipment that threshes grain, that is, it removes the seeds from the stalks and husks. It does so by beating the plant to make the seeds fall out. Before such machines were developed, threshing was done by hand with flails: such hand threshing was very laborious and time-consuming, taking about one-quarter of agricultural labour by the 18th century. Mechanization of this process removed a substantial amount of drudgery from farm labour. The first threshing machine was invented circa 1786 by the Scottish engineer Andrew Meikle, and the subsequent adoption of such machines was one of the earlier examples of the mechanization of agriculture. During the 19th century, threshers and mechanical reapers and reaper-binders gradually became widespread and made grain production much less laborious. (Source: Wikipedia)

Linney's Mill
Union Grove NC
Linney’s Mill is a family business, one of the few fully operational and producing mills in existence in North Carolina. You can watch as it work producing corn meal with water-wheel powered grinding stones for about 65 years. William’s father, W.L. Linney, built a dam and installed the waterwheel on Rocky Creek, north of Statesville, in 1937. Linney's Mill is located in the NE corner of Alexander Co. on Rocky Creek. It was built in 1790 by Richard Cook and has stood in the same spot for 219 years. Richard Cook's widow Lucy married Randolph Mayberry and for many years it was know as the Mayberry Mill.
