Wilgrove Airport

I spent the afternoon of June 13, 2020 with the Carolina Backroads crew while taking pictures of the air park grounds and filming an interview held between Charlie Craig (host) and David Thornton (pilot instructor) and Alan Cobb (airport manager).

The Former Home of Wilgrove Aviation and Flight School

After 53 years of service Wilgrove Airport [8A6 was closed June 30, 2020]. We are sorry to see the grove sacrificed for development but we will not forget the patrons, flying, and memories that we have of the airport. The flight schools that operated at the grove over the years saw many students become pilots and we feel honored to have participated in the process.

This video that I helped to make with Jimmy Wentz and crew for Access 21’s Carolina Backroads TV show was made to remember all the people who received their pilot licenses there at Wilgrove Airport.
